“Blind” Justice !-

Imagine this – a man committed a crime – ran over a bunch of people while driving his car in Mumbai, witnessed by several people, a police cop sitting beside him and all hands and evidences pointing towards him, if seen from an outsider perspective, there is no chance he would be spared. BUT, he doesn’t get acquitted, he roams free. The police cop dies mid way in the investigation (mind you, this “case” has been running since 12-15years), witnesses deter on their statements, judges get confused and voila! He is given a chance to “being human”…

Whereas ……

A man kills his wife with a kitchen knife over an argument, their 4 year old son is the only witness available for this crime, wife’s parents tell that husband and wife were quarreling all the while in their x no. of years in marriage. Judge calmly puts the kid in the witness box, makes the kid to tell about the crime, takes it as prime evidence and sentences the man to life imprisonment……

A 4 year old kid’s statement is taken very seriously whereas several other witnesses’ statements are not taken seriously, evidences are tampered with and a new story is made up saying it wasn’t the man in question driving the car but a driver who was drunk…

Such is the judicial system. The man driving the car is a celebrity film actor and the man killing the wife is a common man. Such is the judicial system where money talks. If the crime was done by any politician, such cases wouldn’t be even registered, they would “anyway” roam scot-free, why to waste time of the criminal, corrupt judges, news-persons, common man like me reading newspapers, no?…

Sad but true and such are the news we read in the newspapers every day. The blindfolded Lady Justice holding the weigh scales with heavy side of richer criminals whereas my dear wiki describes as – The blindfold on Lady justice represents objectivity, in that justice is or should be meted out objectively, without fear or favor, regardless of money, wealth, power, or identity; blind justice and impartiality.
