In response to WP – Discover Challenge: Opening Line
Thanks for the inspiration, Fatimah. Let’s do it! For this week’s challenge, publish a post — any kind of post, be it fiction, nonfiction, poetry, photography, illustration, video, or anything else — inspired by this line:
It was the first time, and it wouldn’t be the last.
It is the first time and I’m sure it wouldn’t be the last. I, of all people, know it wouldn’t be the last. So here I am standing at the edge of this seat on this airplane. I’m double triple checking the parachute on my back. I hear my instructor laugh out loud looking at my anxiety. I hear the pilot give instructions like some distance away. The weather looks beautiful and then the pilot confirms it. As much as I don’t want to do it, I still want to do it. Yeah, previously I have done small adventurous activities-grade III rafting, rapling. But this is the next level. At Least for me. So here I am, flying high up Burj Khalifa in Dubai. I will be skydiving over Palm Jumeirah. I can feel the Adrenaline rushing over my body. Yeah, I’m doing this. YEAH..!!!
Just then the pilot instructs us to line up, my instructor is asking me to be the first jump, seeing others nearly shed a tear.
As I stand, the door open and due to turbulence the plan starts to vibrate and as I stand there looking down from the sky and cold wind hitting my face, I am calm, scarily calm I would say. The Palm Jumeirah looks just a leaf on the ground. Beautiful. We get the instructions to take the plunge. I take a deep breath, thinking this will not be my last and I jump. And trust me I do not regret it one bit.
